The court found a 42-year-old man guilty of collaborative activity (Part 7 of Article 111-1 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine) for maintaining a public accusation by the prosecutors of the Dergachy District Prosecutor’s Office of the Kharkiv Region.
Prosecutors proved in court that during the occupation of the town of Kozach Lopan, a local resident voluntarily began to cooperate with the enemy, the prosecutor’s office of the Kharkiv region reports.
He took the position of “in at. district inspector” in the pseudo-militia. For this, he submitted all the necessary documents, including a statement stating that he was warned about the non-disclosure of information related to the performance of his work duties. In addition, the document indicated “consequences” for disclosing information in the form of liability under Russian law.
Before the de-occupation, the collaborator fled to the Russian Federation, where he remains today.
Witnesses at the court hearing said that the collaborator directed the Russian military against wealthy local residents so that the occupiers would take their property for their own needs.
The judge of the Dergachy District Court of the Kharkiv region pronounced a verdict against the fugitive collaborator. He was sentenced to 14 years of imprisonment with deprivation of the right to hold positions in law enforcement bodies of Ukraine, state authorities, state administration, local self-government, in bodies that provide public services related to the performance of organizational and administrative and administrative and economic functions, on a term of 15 years, with confiscation of property.
The term of serving the sentence of the accused shall be counted from the moment of actual detention.
Currently, the term for appealing the verdict continues.
