Only 11% of Ukrainians will celebrate Christmas on December 25, but the very idea of ​​transferring the celebration to this day is supported by 44% of respondents. This is evidenced by interview sociological group Rating, held on 20-21 November.

Over the past year, the number of supporters of changing the date of Christmas has almost doubled – in December 2021 there were only 26% of them.

Now 31% of Ukrainians are against such an idea (a year ago it was 58%). Another 23% noted that they are indifferent to this issue, and 2% found it difficult to answer.

Most of the supporters of the idea of ​​moving Christmas are among the residents of Western Ukraine and Kyiv. In these regions, this idea is supported by the majority of respondents. There are also many fans in the center of Ukraine.

There is significant support for the idea of ​​moving the celebration of Christmas among Greek Catholics. Among the parishioners of the Orthodox Church of Ukraine, almost half (46%) are like that, but a third are against it.

Among the residents of the south and east, the relative majority do not support the idea of ​​postponing the date of the celebration of Christmas.

In terms of age, the greatest number of contradictions is observed in the older and middle age groups, where the relative majority (more than 40%) support the idea of ​​moving the date, and a significant number (at least a third) are against it.

Among young people, a third are for the transfer, a third are against it, and so many more said that they do not care.

The survey was conducted in all regions, except for the temporarily occupied territories of Crimea and Donbass, as well as territories where there was no Ukrainian mobile communication at the time of the survey. It was attended by 1000 respondents from 18 years old. The error of the representativeness of the study with a confidence probability of 0.95 is no more than 3.1%.
