The law enforcement officers arrested a red-handed businessman who wanted to bribe the commander of the operational-strategic group of troops “Odesa”.
This is reported by the National Anti-Corruption Bureau of Ukraine and the Specialized Anti-Corruption Prosecutor’s Office.
The investigators said that the businessman offered the commander of the “Odesa” OSUV a bribe of 200,000 hryvnias so that he would issue a special order to obtain a permit to catch biological resources in the prohibited border zone.
After the proposal, the commander turned to the law enforcement officers. Therefore, based on his statement, a criminal case was initiated.
Preliminary qualification of an entrepreneur’s actions – Part 3 of Art. 369 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine, that is, an offer, promise or giving of an illegal benefit to an official. He faces imprisonment for a term of four to eight years with or without confiscation of property.
Primary investigative actions are currently ongoing.
As a reminder, NABU and SAP reported the suspicion to the chairman of the Ternopil Regional Council Mykhailo Golovko, the first deputy chairman and the deputy chairman of the Ternopil OVA Ihor Demyanchuk and Ihor Hayduk, respectively. According to the investigation, they made a persistent request to a local businessman and volunteer to provide a total of over 2.4 million UAH for the signing of acts of completed works on the construction and repair of infrastructure facilities by the communal enterprise of the Ternopil Regional Council, as well as for the payment of the debt of the Ternopil Regional Government to Ltd. for works already completed and accepted in 2022.
On November 17, the Higher Anti-Corruption Court sent Golovka under 24-hour house arrest and collected his bail of UAH 805,200 from state income.
