On the eve of Christmas, 6 men tried to illegally cross the border between Ukraine and Romania. Two citizens of Ukraine were detained and handed over to the Ukrainian side by Romanian border guards, but four other evaders got lost in the mountains.

As reported by the publication Agerpres, on December 26, Romanian rescuers managed to find two lost Ukrainians alive. At the same time, they found out that there are two more men in the mountains.

According to mountain rescuers, one of the men who had to be found fell off a cliff. He received numerous fractures and a brain injury with bleeding. The last telephone contact with him was made on the morning of Monday, December 26.

On Tuesday, December 27, 2022, the director of the State Mining Rescue Service of the Romanian Maramures County, Dan Benga, said that one of the two Ukrainians who could not be contacted was found dead by a local resident.

Departure of conscripts from Ukraine during the war

Due to the effect of martial law in Ukraine, which was a consequence of Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, as well as the ongoing general mobilization, the departure of men of conscription age abroad is temporarily prohibited. Despite this, evaders continue to look for a way to leave the country.

On December 26, it became known that the Security Service of Ukraine eliminated another channel of illegal departure abroad of Ukrainian citizens of draft age, in which a deputy of the Chernihiv City Council was involved. As a result of investigative and operative actions in the Chernihiv region, three organizers of illegal traffic were exposed.

Earlier in Ukraine, a criminal group was neutralized, which organized the departure of “evaders” from military service to Russia. Criminals offered potential conscripts to secretly go to the South Caucasus or to the countries of the European Union through the territory of the Russian Federation.

In addition, the head of a charitable organization was detained in Kyiv, who, together with an accomplice, was engaged in illegally transporting men of draft age across the state border using the “Shlyah” system.
