The Vatashchuk couple created a foster family back in 2018. They lived in the village of Kurylivka, Kupyan district. The family was forced to evacuate due to active hostilities. Currently, the family is raising 5 children, 4 of whom have been taken into custody. The family is ready to add 5 more children who were left without parental care. In order to create a full-fledged DBST, a house is being built for the Vatashchuks in the city of Zmiiv.

Together with the Olena Zelenska Foundation, we continue to make every effort to ensure that as many children as possible end up in loving families and create new forms of education. The house for the Vatashchuk family should be completed by the end of this year. The builders have already poured the foundation, erected walls and interior ceilings, conducted external communications, and in a few days they will build the roof. It is planned to finish the work by the end of this year.
Today, there are 4,277 orphans and children deprived of parental care in Kharkiv region on the register of children’s services. More than 97% of them managed to be accommodated in family forms of education. In order to strengthen this work, last week Kharkiv Oblast adopted the first regional program of support and development of family forms of education in Ukraine. The program provides one-time payments for all families of alternative forms of raising children, in particular for families who have taken care of palliative children.
