The National Bank, together with the banks, is implementing a plan of measures to ensure the continuity of the banking system during long-term power outages.
Recently, due to the destruction of the country’s energy infrastructure as a result of enemy missile strikes, the risks of temporary interruptions in customer service at bank branches due to planned and emergency power outages, as well as the threat of banks being completely unable to work due to a long-term lack of power supply (blackout), have increased significantly. In order to minimize these risks, the National Bank together with systemically important banks are implementing a plan of measures to ensure the continuity of the banking system in the event of a long-term power outage.
Systemically important banks have identified a list of 760 regular branches located in Kyiv and in 275 settlements in 22 oblasts, which will provide financial services to clients even in conditions of long-term power outages. Emergency departments are already provided with all the necessary equipment and communication channels for continuous work in the absence of electricity.
Plans for logistical support of such departments with additional staff, cash register equipment, ATMs, and cash are being implemented. The smooth operation of the contact centers of the National Bank and systemically important banks was organized to inform customers about the availability, location and work schedule of critically important bank branches in cities.
