About 9 million Ukrainians remain without electricity,

President Volodymyr Zelenskyi announced this in a video message.

“I want to thank all the workers of energy companies, all the repair crews for the fact that this Saturday and Sunday – on Christmas Eve and Christmas – it was possible to give people more energy. Of course, deficits persist. Outages continue. As of this evening, in various regions of Ukraine, about 9 million people are disconnected. But the number and duration of disconnections is still gradually decreasing. Thank you to everyone who ensured this result,” Zelenskyy said.

The President also noted that there are “threats that must be eliminated” in the energy sector and infrastructure of Ukraine.

“Today, I held a special meeting with government officials regarding the situation in energy and infrastructure. We are preparing for next year – and not only for the winter months. There are threats that must be eliminated. There are steps that must be taken. And the state will definitely take them.” , – said Zelensky.

In addition, the president talked about contacts with international partners.

“I held an extended meeting today regarding the results of the visit to the USA and the implementation of the agreements. We will not waste time. We will implement everything agreed in Washington quickly. As much as possible. And one more thing. Today I spoke with the Prime Minister of India. Next year, it will be India who will chair the G20. I wish Mr. Modi a fruitful presidency, and a fruitful presidency, not for anyone in particular, but for everyone in the world who values peace. India can be more active in efforts to end aggression, so I hope that next year we will be able to do more together for global stability,” Zelenskyy said.

  • Earlier, Ukrenergo reported that due to a significant power shortage in the power system, emergency power cut-off schedules are in effect on December 26 in five regions of Ukraine and in Kyiv.
