AliExpress was added to the list of sponsors of the war

The National Agency for the Prevention of Corruption (NACP) has added the Chinese group of companies Alibaba Group Holding Limited to the list of international war sponsors.

The press service of the NAKC explained this decision by the fact that Alibaba Group continues to work in the Russian Federation and provides its platforms for the sale of goods made from copper exported from the occupied territories of Ukraine. The publication writes about it Censor.NO.

In particular, the AliExpress online commerce platform, which is managed by the Russian subsidiary of the Alibaba group – Alibaba.KOM (RU) LLC, has become the most popular in Russia. The owner of Alibaba.KOM (RU) LLC is Aliexpress Russia Holding Private Ltd., registered in Singapore.

As of 2023, the company continues business in Russia, providing an international platform for sales of foreign goods. The profit of Alibaba.KOM (RU) LLC for 2022 amounted to 16.3 billion rubles (about $160 million).

At the same time, in April 2023, the Reuters agency reported that the Chinese company Quzhou Nova purchased at least 3,220 tons of copper alloy for a total of $7.4 million from the Debaltseve metallurgical engineering plant (controlled by the Russians) in the period from October 8, 2022 to March 24, 2023. According to the customs, shipments of copper alloy from the plant were carried out through the port of Novorossiysk. From the copper exported from the occupied territories, the company produces goods that it sells on Alibaba platforms.

“It is worth noting that Alibaba also resorts to censoring Ukrainian content on its platforms related to the Russian war. In March 2022, Alibaba blocked the profile of a Ukrainian streamer who had more than 268,000 followers on AliExpress for a post about war. At the same time, pro-Russian posts on the platform are not deleted,” the message states.

These facts may indicate that the company supports Russian aggression not only financially, by paying taxes, but also ideologically, according to NAZK.

As reported earlier, the NAKC included the Bermudian company Bacardi Limited in the list of international sponsors of the war of the world-famous alcohol producer. the Chinese car manufacturer Geely and a number of other companies.

In general, the National Agency for the Prevention of Corruption since the beginning of the Russian Federation’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine added more than 30 leading companies of the world to the list of international war sponsors.
