The Minister of Education and Science of Ukraine, Oksen Lisovyi, signed the order to release Andrii Vasylenko, who mocked Ukraine’s independence. As of Friday, September 15, he will not hold any position in the department.
This was reported by Lisovyi Facebook. The head of the Ministry of Education and Culture emphasized that such a decision was made as a result of the disciplinary proceedings initiated in the ministry on Wednesday, September 13.
“Civil service is a great responsibility. And this is a story about serving the people of one’s country. In my opinion, no person who questions the independence of their country, the independence for which so many sacrifices were made, has the right to hold public office. All our actions have consequences. For Vasylenko, today is dismissal,” the minister wrote.

On August 24, on Independence Day, Andriy Vasylenko, who was a member of the expert group on digital transformation of the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine, published a post on the networkwritten in Russian, in which he mocked Ukraine’s independence in 1991.
According to him, the formation of Ukrainian independence took place thanks to “propaganda”, as a result of which Ukrainians allegedly believed that they would be better off without the USSR. Osvityanin called Ukraine’s independence a “throwaway”. He did not leave other countries aside. In particular, he stated that the occupation of Lithuania by the Soviet Union was “the best thing that could happen to Lithuania.”
The Minister of Education and Science of Ukraine Oksen Lisovyi said that he does not want to work in the same team with such a person. Vasylenko was offered to write an application for dismissal, but he did not agree.
