It is reported Reuters.

At the opening of the Communist Party Congress, Xi Jinping assured that China seeks a peaceful “reunification” with Taiwan, but will not abandon the use of force.

“Firmly adhering to sincere thoughts and exerting maximum efforts, we seek the prospect of peaceful reunification, but we will never give up the use of force,” Xi Jinping said.

He expressed his conviction that “national reunification will definitely be carried out.” At the same time, the Chinese leader emphasized that China “will never play the role of a hegemon and expand” and will continue to adhere to a peaceful foreign policy.

Xi Jinping added that Beijing has put forward a master plan for settling the Taiwan issue in a new era.

The 20th Congress of the Chinese Communist Party should approve the key directions of the development of the People’s Republic of China. It is expected that Xi Jinping will be re-elected to the post of General Secretary of the Party.
