Azerbaijan and Armenia may sign a peace agreement on Karabakh by the end of the year

Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan plans to conclude a peace agreement with Azerbaijan regarding Nagorno-Karabakh by the end of this year or the beginning of next year.

The politician told journalists about this on September 17 after voting in the Yerevan mayoral elections. transmits portal News.am.

“We said that the peace agenda is a priority, and we want to sign a peace agreement with Azerbaijan as soon as possible, for example, by the end of the year, at the beginning of next year. We do everything for this.” – Pashinyan said.

The Prime Minister expressed hope that during the negotiations with Azerbaijan, it will be possible to reach an acceptable version of the peace agreement, as well as to resolve the humanitarian crisis in Nagorno-Karabakh.

“I consider it possible because we hope that this situation will change. We are working to change this situation, to open the Lachin Corridor, to overcome the humanitarian crisis in Karabakh.” – added the politician.

It will be recalled that on September 3, the Prime Minister of Armenia called Yerevan’s dependence on Russia a “strategic mistake.”

In July, the leaders of Armenia and Azerbaijan held new negotiations in Brussels, and in May, Armenia and Azerbaijan recognized each other’s territorial integrity.

Before that, Armenia allowed recognition of Karabakh as part of Azerbaijan and withdrawal from the CSTO.
