Andriy Illenko, an officer of the “Freedom” battalion of the National Guard, said that the situation in the Bakhmut direction remains under control. The enemy has neither strategic nor tactical success on that part of the front.

On the air of the TV channel “Espresso” he noted that the situation around Bakhmut is still difficult. However, the Russian invaders are unable to break through our defenses.

“The situation continues to be difficult. It is impossible to say that it is positive, but the main positive is that the enemy is unable to do anything. All his attempts to break through our defenses, capture or surround Bakhmut are unsuccessful,” Illenko explained.

The military reminded that all this comes at a great price. Heavy fighting continues in the Bakhmut direction.

“All this comes at a great price. The enemy cannot advance, he has neither strategic nor tactical success, although he is throwing everything he has now here. Everything that is capable of combat is being charged to Donbas today and, above all, in the Bakhmut direction. The battles are very difficult, the battles are extremely difficult. Despite all this, the situation is under control,” Illenko summarized.

British intelligence said that Russian mercenaries from the “Wagner” PMC are still playing an important role in the battles near Bakhmut. The occupiers are using poorly trained convicts against the Ukrainian army.

Analysts of the Institute for the Study of War emphasized that the split in the Russian army is intensifying because of the “Wagnerians”. According to experts, the role of Prigozhin’s mercenaries in the operations around Bakhmut could contribute to a split between different factions in the Russian army, as well as discredit the Kremlin’s puppets from the “DPR” and the militants they command.

Earlier, the President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelenskyi, noted that the Ukrainian defenders are holding the city of Bakhmut in the Donetsk region, although the Russian occupiers are doing everything to ensure that not a single wall remains there.
