Head of Ukrainian Military Intelligence Kirill Budanov spoke about three unsuccessful landing attempts in the temporarily occupied Energodar. This is what he’s talking about reported in an interview with NV.
According to him, in 2022, the GUR special forces tried to land in Energodar three times – the soldiers crossed the Kakhovka reservoir in inflatable boats and landed on the left bank of the Dnieper, but were unable to gain a foothold.
He noted that successful implementation was hampered by “both managerial and executive shortcomings.”
At the same time, the intelligence officer said that these raids, as well as the actions of the agents, ultimately prevented the Russians from connecting the Zaporozhye nuclear power plant to their energy system.
Budanov said the operations in Energodar gave commanders and soldiers practical skills on how to operate on the water, an experience that was used during the landing in Crimea.
“There was a shock in the Kremlin: in their understanding, landing in Crimea was almost impossible. But they saw that it was quite possible. Thus, another Russian myth was destroyed,” the head of the Main Intelligence Directorate emphasized.
Previously, Western media, as well as Russian propagandists, wrote about attempted landings in Energodar, but the Ukrainian command did not confirm this.
- Budanov said that the war should be transferred to the territory of the Russian Federation, the wider the operations there, the better.
- According to the head of the Main Intelligence Directorate, after the victory of Ukraine, revanchism will arise in Russia; it will take at least 10 years to restore the military aspect.
- Budanov: Putin and his entourage in the Russian Federation are called “the club for those over 70.” The agents reported this to us.
