By the end of 2023, Internet from Starlink will appear in all “Intercity+” trains

The Ministry of Digital has already handed over 450 Starlink terminals to UZ, another batch will be delivered next month.

During the year, all “Ukrzaliznytsia” “Intercity+” trains will switch to the Internet from Starlink.

As reported press office carrier, “Ukrzaliznytsia” successfully completed Wi-Fi testing based on Starlink technology in the “Intercity” train and summed up the results. It is noted that Deputy Prime Minister – Minister of Digital Transformation Mykhailo Fedorov and Chairman of the Board of “Ukrzaliznytsia” Oleksandr Kamyshin protested how the Internet works on “Starlinks” during the trip.

“One Intercity train was equipped with Starlinks and ran it on various routes for more than 100 days. Test results: availability on the route is 97%; speed up to 100 Mbit/s”, – it is stated in messages.

According to Kamyshin, within a year the Internet from Starlink will appear in all “Intercity+” trains. Fedorov also reported that the team of the Ministry of Digital Transformation has already handed over 450 Starlink terminals to Ukrzaliznytsia. Another batch will be delivered next month.

Starlink in Ukraine

As UNIAN reported, on January 13 it became known that Ukraine has already received 30,000 Starlink terminals to provide communication where the usual network does not work.

According to the International Telecommunication Union, Ukraine has almost 2 billion dollars to restore telecommunications damaged by a full-scale war. Communication infrastructure is damaged in more than 10 out of 24 regions.

It is noted that in 80% of the Ukrainian cities freed from the Russian occupation, the Internet was partially restored.
