Commemorative medal – NBU issued the medal “City of Heroes

The National Bank of Ukraine issued a commemorative medal “City of Heroes – Mariupol” as a sign of respect for the heroes, defenders and residents of the city.

The design was created by the Kyiv artist Maryna Kuts. The reverse of the medal contains the image of a warrior surrounded by stylized debris, weapons and crosshairs, according to a report in Telegram channels NBU

On the obverse – the facade of the drama theater under the gun and the stylized constructions of “Azovstal” on which bombs are flying.

In the word “Mariupol”, the letter “i” is replaced by a candle as a symbol of memory for the dead, and the letter “o” imitates a map of the city, created from child and adult profiles, as a symbol of forced deportation.

Below, on the background of stylized waves, there is an anchor – one of the heraldic elements found on the coat of arms of Mariupol. This is an image of hope for the liberation and revival of the Ukrainian city.

It is noted that the medal is made of nickel silver, its circulation is up to 100,000 pieces.

Commemorative medals of the NBU

As UNIAN reported, on November 21, the National Bank presented the first commemorative medal from the series dedicated to the cities of heroes – “Kherson – the city of heroes”.

The design of the medal was created by the artist Natalia Fandikova. It was presented in the center of the city liberated from Russian occupation.

Also, the other day, the National Bank issued a commemorative medal “City of Heroes – Kharkiv”. Its circulation is up to 100,000 pieces. (including up to 50,000 units in 2022).

It is known that a commemorative medal “Kyiv region. Cities of heroes: Bucha, Gostomel, Irpin” is planned to be issued in December.
