The police opened criminal proceedings regarding the death of the former head of the Kherson regional state administration Gennady Laguta. About it LIGA.net said the head of the Kyiv police communications department, Yulia Girdvilis.
The event is classified as “premeditated murder” with an additional qualification – “suicide”.
According to Girdvilis, on September 13, Laguta’s wife contacted the police with a report of the disappearance of a man; on September 16, he was found dead near garages in the Solomensky district of Kyiv.
Information about the death of the 49-year-old ex-chairman of the Kherson Regional State Administration appeared on the night of September 17. The regional administration was notified of the event.
Journalists from the publication Most wrote that Laguta allegedly died in one of the capital’s hospitals.
Laguta served as head of the Kherson Regional State Administration from October 2021 to July 2022. Laguta was the head of Kherson at the beginning of the full-scale Russian invasion. The president Vladimir Zelensky dismissed him by decree of July 9.
