Drunk and tired Russian soldiers who escaped from Ukraine roam the streets of Belgorod – The Guardian

About this it is said in a report by British journalist Andrew Roth from The Guardian.

“In Belgorod, in the south of Russia, just a mile from the border with Ukraine, it has become impossible to ignore the war. Several times a day, air defense shells burst overhead. On the border, the Russian and Ukrainian military stand within sight of each other,” the article says.

The reporter reports on crowds of Russian soldiers “roaming the streets of Belgorod” after retreating from a Ukrainian counterattack.

“Russian soldiers from Ossetia are wandering through unfamiliar streets past the Transfiguration Cathedral late at night. They seem to be unsteady on their feet – drunk or tired,” the reporter says.

The invaders, whom the British met, had been fighting in Ukraine since February, stationed in the village of Velyki Prohody, north of Kharkiv. Last week, the occupiers received an urgent order to flee back to Russia. Now the occupiers roam the streets of Belgorod, looking for somewhere to eat.

  • We will remind, conscripts from the Taman division are being prepared to be sent to guard the border of the Belgorod region, there are few willing ones.
