Duda recalled that the USSR entered the war almost simultaneously with the Third Reich, and on its side, but little is known about this in the West.

“That’s why I consider it necessary to constantly remind about this event, which became crucial for my Motherland and other countries of Central and Eastern Europe for the next half century,” he said.

Further in the article, which has English, Spanish, Italian and French translations, Duda draws an analogy between the USSR and the Third Reich and describes the dire consequences of the Soviet occupation for Poland.

Duda writes that the independence of Poland and other countries of Eastern and Central Europe, which they gained in the late 1980s and early 1990s, “has always been salt in the eyes of Russian imperialists.”

“Therefore, only after recovering from the shock of losing the Stalinist sphere of influence, they began to try to restore the empire. We remember the attack on Georgia in 2008. We remember the repeated brutal suppression of liberation movements in Belarus and Ukraine. Finally, we remember Russia’s aggressive policy towards an independent Ukraine, armed annexation of Crimea and Donbass in 2014 and a full-scale genocidal war with the sovereign Ukrainian state, which has been going on since February 24,” Duda wrote.

“There is no doubt that imperial Russia is again seeking to expand into other states. It wants the same thing as in 1939 and 1940, when it acted in alliance with Nazi Germany, and in 1945-1991, when it independently ruled our countries “, he stated.

Duda assured that Poland and other states in the region would not allow this to happen again.

“This is a matter of life and death, the preservation of identity and survival. This is a matter of our future, security and prosperity,” the president said.
