Commenting on the question of who is responsible for the mass graves found in the regions that were temporarily occupied by Russian troops, Erdogan said that “the most ideal answer on this issue will be given by the UN after the work has been done.”

He noted that Turkey is negotiating with Russia and Ukraine, “trying to achieve a result.”

“We are negotiating with Mr. Putinand with Mr. Zelensky. Also, the UN Secretary General continues contacts with Mr. Putin and Mr. Zelensky. What does this mean? If we want to achieve a result, then we must talk with both leaders, and not take the side of one of them. Of course, it is important to see this as well, people are dying not only from the Ukrainian side, but also from the Russian side,” Erdogan said.

  • On September 15, photos of a mass grave in the forest near Izyum were published. The president Zelensky also showed pictures from there and said that the whole world should see it.
  • 146 bodies have already been exhumed from the mass grave site. Some of the dead have signs of violent death, there are bodies with their hands tied and signs of torture. The dead also have mine-explosive injuries, shrapnel and stab wounds.
  • Peskov said that accusations against Russians of committing war crimes in Izyum “are developing according to the same scenario as in Bucha,” and this is “a lie.”
