Mrs. Krotevych commented on the stay of Ukrainian fighters in Turkey under the control and guarantees of President Erdogan: “Everything is fine with the boys, they are not in captivity, but it is still captivity. Because they do not have the opportunity, like us, to move freely, drink coffee, to call at any time, go somewhere and meet people – they don’t have all this. They are in another captivity under guard, where they are not abused and fed properly. When the boys return to Ukraine, then it will be possible to say that they are released.”
The co-founder of the Association of Families of Defenders of Azovstal concluded that while the fighters are in Turkey, it should be called as it is – captivity, because the boys are still in captivity only under security guarantees.
- On September 21, as a result of the exchange of prisoners from Russian captivity, 215 defenders of Ukraine were returned
- On October 3, soldiers from Azovstal met with their families in Turkey
- On October 12, the extraordinary and plenipotentiary ambassador of Ukraine to Turkey, Vasyl Bodnar, noted that the stay of Azov citizens in Turkey, and not at home, is a guarantee of the further release of our prisoners
