Finland will not participate in the World Team Gymnastics Championships in November, as teams from Russia and Belarus have been allowed to participate.
“Unfortunately, our position and opinion are in the minority in the IFAGG council and membership,” said Association President Kaisa Vikkula.
It is noted that some other European countries will also not participate in the competition, including Estonia.
The International Federation of Aesthetic Group Gymnastics (IFAGG) did not limit participation in the competition to Russia and Belarus, but allowed the host countries to decide who to admit.
This championship will be held in Kazakhstan, which has not introduced sanctions against Russian and Belarusian teams, the Association writes.
