The German government supplied the Armed Forces of Ukraine with an additional batch of Leopard 1 tanks.

This was announced by the Ministry of Defense of the country, reports DW.

These are refurbished and modernized tanks that were recently purchased in Belgium.

The German Ministry of Defense said that Ukraine received 25 units of Leopard 1, five armored repair and evacuation vehicles and two training tanks.

We will remind, on August 8, the mass media reported that one of the countries purchased a large batch of German Leopard 1 tanks from Belgium for their further transfer to Ukraine. The first tanks were sent to Ukraine on Monday, August 7, through intermediaries in Germany and Italy. Later it became known that the tanks were purchased by the German defense concern Rheinmetall.

It is worth noting that Germany has already handed over Leopard 1 to Ukraine. In July, the Armed Forces received 10 such tanks.

On our infographic you can see how the Leopard 1 and Leopard 2 tanks differ.
