Head of the European Commission: If Ukrainians say they need battle tanks, they need to give them – Ukrainian news, Politics

Head of the European Commission Ursula von der Leyen does not share the position of Germany, which, under various pretexts, refuses to supply tanks to Ukraine. In an interview Bild she called for the arms it requests to be handed over to Ukraine.

“If they (Ukrainians – Ed.) say that they need battle tanks, then we must take this seriously and supply them to them. Ukraine knows exactly what it needs for protection,” said the head of the European Commission.

She stated that the Ukrainians “are waging this fight for all of us,” and it is necessary that democracy win. Therefore, she noted, it is so important that Ukraine receive all the necessary weapons.

“I am for European states to provide what Ukraine really needs. After all, Ukrainians prove that they can defend themselves if they have the appropriate military means,” said the head of the European Commission.

She also expressed her “firm conviction” that Ukraine would win the war and that the Russian dictator Vladimir Putin must lose.

“Ukraine has great motivation. They know what they are fighting for. And allies around the world are doing everything to ensure that Ukraine gets the necessary weapons systems,” von der Leyen said.

She also stressed that the heads of European states have no fear of Russian threats to use nuclear weapons, and the West will not succumb to blackmail.
