Long-range ATACMS missiles, which Ukraine received from the US, will strengthen the Ukrainian counteroffensive. First of all, they play an important role in destroying the enemy’s weapons reserves in the deep rear.
This was reported by the head of the joint coordination press center of the Southern Defense Forces of Ukraine, Nataliya Humenyuk, during a briefing on Wednesday, October 18.
In particular, she was asked to comment on the importance of obtaining ATACMS missiles and their role in the offensive operations of the Armed Forces.
“This will strengthen our counterattack. Because the counteroffensive is the destruction of the enemy’s capabilities in his deep rear. This is the main element that really enables us to then take more active steps along the front line and move forward.” – Humenyuk said.
It will be recalled that on October 17 it became known that Ukraine used ATACMS missiles for the first time – to attack Russian airfields in occupied Luhansk and Berdyansk.
President Volodymyr Zelenskyy confirmed the receipt of the missiles. And the mass media named the number of ATACMS missiles transferred to Ukraine.
At the same time, the President of the Russian Federation, Vladimir Putin, said that Russia would allegedly be able to shoot down these missiles.
