Tens of thousands gathered on Saturday in the German capital to show solidarity with anti-government protesters in Iran, where a movement sparked by the death of a woman detained by the vice police has turned into a challenge to the Islamic Republic. Reports about it AP.

Berlin police estimated that by evening there were 37,000 demonstrators. They carried Iranian flags and posters critical of Iranian leaders. Many of them had the slogan “Women, Life, Freedom” in English and German.

The demonstration began at the Victory Column in Berlin’s Tiergarten park and continued with a march through the center of Berlin.

Some demonstrators said they came to Germany from other European countries to show their support.

Spiegel reports that 80,000 people took part in the action.
