The German government decided not to supply battle tanks to Ukraine, because the training of the Ukrainian military requires a long period of time.
This was stated by the co-chairman of the Social Democratic Party of Germany, Lars Klingbeil, reports Bild.
According to him, the German government is unanimously against the supply of Leopard II tanks to Ukraine. Klingbeil emphasized that the training to work on these battle tanks “takes too much time to have any effect at this stage of the war.”
He added that the Ukrainian military, during training on the Panzerhaubitze 2000 self-propelled guns, requested that the training last longer than planned.
We will remind that the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Dmytro Kuleba, believes that Germany will eventually allow the supply of its tanks to Ukraine, but the current German government needs time to evolve before making such a decision.
