In Poland, Ukrainian hryvnias will not be accepted for exchange at the National Bank


The National Bank of Poland reminded Ukrainians that the current week (September 5-9) will be the last one when you can use the program to exchange hryvnias for zlotys.

The National Bank of Poland together with the National Bank of Ukraine informs that the program of exchange of Ukrainian hryvnias for Polish zlotys, which was made possible for the needs of Ukrainian citizens residing in Poland, is nearing completion. The last week of operations at PKO Bank Polski branches is the week from September 5 to 9, 2022.

During the period of the program, as of September 5, more than 97,000 currency exchange operations for a total amount of UAH 690 million were carried out in 100 branches of Bank Polski.

Poland was one of the first countries that introduced the possibility for Ukrainian refugees to exchange the hryvnia for the national currency at the rate of the National Bank of Ukraine. However, a number of other states are just starting to take over this initiative.

Earlier we wrote that 700 zlotys of aid was paid to Ukrainian refugees in Poland. At the same time, only those citizens of Ukraine who crossed the border with Poland after February 24, 2022 could count on the payment.

Also, Polish employers reported the employment of about 430,000 Ukrainian citizens who arrived in Poland after February 24.
