In Russia, they want to allow the mobilization of those convicted of serious crimes

This is reported BBC.

According to information, the Russian State Duma Defense Committee approved the relevant amendments.

It has been forbidden to mobilize those convicted of serious crimes in Russia since 1997, when the law “On mobilization training and mobilization in the Russian Federation” was adopted. This prohibition is prescribed in Part 4 of Article 17 of this law.

The authors of the new initiative were the chairman of the State Duma Committee on Defense, former deputy head of the Ministry of Defense Serhiy Shoigu – Andriy Kartapolov – and his first deputy Andriy Krasov.
