Serhii Vasylyna, head of the Chernihiv Regional Prosecutor’s Office, in an interview online publication “Left Bank” revealed the amount of execution of court decisions based on lawsuits by the prosecutor’s office as part of the function of representing the interests of the state in 2022 – almost UAH 1.38 billion. This is 60% more than the year before, the regional prosecutor noted.

The official compared this amount with the cost of almost 50,000 bulletproof vests at the price of 30,000 UAH or 60,000 generators at 25,000 UAH. “The value of these funds for the state is difficult to overestimate,” he said.

Serhii Vasylyna noted that in 2022, the prosecutor’s office returned lands worth UAH 1.2 billion to the state. “The illegal disposal of 1,384 hectares of land was returned and prevented,” he said.

In the budgetary sphere, prosecutors filed lawsuits for UAH 51.8 million, 67 lawsuits for UAH 5.2 million were settled. “Real implementation is 31%, or 1.7 million hryvnias, which is almost three times more than the national average,” the prosecutor emphasized.

The prosecutor of Chernihiv region shared with journalists the figures in the field of protection of state and communal property. Last year, regional prosecutors filed 31 lawsuits for a total amount of UAH 333 million (UAH 221 million the year before). Of this, UAH 221.7 million was actually implemented. This means that the rate of actual implementation reaches 98%, which indicates the high efficiency of law enforcement officers. Thanks to their efforts, the state regained 718 hectares of land, and the communities – 666 hectares.

Serhii Vasylyna prioritizes the task of finding facts of violations of legislation in the budgetary sphere. According to his data, in 2022 prosecutors filed claims for 51.8 million UAH, courts satisfied 67 claims for 5.2 million UAH. The level of real implementation is 31%, or UAH 1.7 million. This is almost three times more than the national average, the regional prosecutor emphasizes.

The official announced the completion of the investigation into the high-profile case regarding 11 heads of the RDA, who embezzled UAH 1.7 million. Also, according to his data, an indictment was sent regarding the embezzlement of state funds in the amount of UAH 1.5 million, allocated from the state regional development fund and the local budget of the Chernihiv region, for the reconstruction of the “Litniy” cinema for a sports hall in the city of Novgorod-Siverskyi.

The Chernihiv Prosecutor’s Office together with law enforcement officers stopped the scheme of illegal sand mining near the village of Nedanchychi. “Sand deposits have been illegally used for years by certain plots exclusively for their own enrichment,” he notes. “We stopped this scheme of illegal enrichment – we imposed an arrest in order to protect the interests of the state. We are currently considering the lawsuits filed by the Chernihiv District Prosecutor’s Office. We hope to return the land plots, where the sand is, it is owned by the state,” “Left Bank” cites Vasylyna’s words.

According to him, a discrediting campaign was organized to put pressure on him in the past and the past years. “I see this as an attempt to intimidate me. I am grateful to the employees of the Department of Strategic Investigations of the region, police investigators, who are fundamentally concerned with the return of minerals to the state’s income. I am sure that we will bring the case to a logical conclusion,” said the prosecutor.

“Every official who robs the budget is a pest, and we will behave in accordance with the laws of wartime,” emphasized Serhii Vasylyna.
