In the Kyiv region, a man tried to sell a red-book lynx

The police received a message from members of the animal protection organization URSA, who discovered a publication where unknown persons were selling an animal listed in the Red Book of Ukraine.

Law enforcement officers of the Obukhov administration of the Kyiv region police together with animal protectionists, they exposed the offender in the attempt to sell and seized the lynx. The perpetrator turned out to be a 36-year-old resident of the capital, who did not even have documents for a feline representative. The predator was brought in a carrier.

In case of violation of the order of purchase or sale of objects of animal or plant life listed in the Red Book of Ukraine [Ρ‡. 2 ст. 88-1 КУпАП] the police made a report.

When detained, the man refused to hand over the animal. The policemen warned the offender to draw up a protocol for disobeying a law enforcement officer, at which point the man became angry and damaged the portable cage in which the animal was kept.

Law enforcement officers drew up an administrative report on the fact of malicious disobedience to a lawful order or demand of a police officer (Article 185 of the Code of Criminal Procedure).

Currently, the animal has been transferred to the appropriate center of temporary detention.

The further fate of the offender will be decided by the court.
