The war in Ukraine, started by Russia, has been going on for more than five months. During the hostilities, Ukrainian troops have already eliminated 43 thousand occupiers, active fighting is going on in the south and east of the country, Ukraine has already liberated more than a thousand settlements captured by Russian troops. When talking about the end of the war in Ukraine, various possible deadlines are mentioned, in particular – by winter or by the end of the year. At the same time, we are talking about the end of the hot phase, writes RBC
“There will be a time when they (occupiers, editor’s note) will flee from the Kharkiv region, Donbass, Crimea,” said the head of state Volodymyr Zelenskyy in a recent video message.
According to Zelenskyi, how soon the war will end depends on the losses of the occupiers and the amount of international aid to Ukraine.
“The more losses the occupiers have, the sooner we will be able to liberate our land and guarantee the security of Ukraine. This is what everyone who protects our land and helps Ukraine should think about… The more weapons Ukraine receives, the more financial and technical support, the sooner our people and all Europeans will be able to experience peace and stability in life,” Zelenskyi said.
Zelensky also emphasized that after the war “neither smoldering nor frozen conflict should remain” – Ukraine must return everything that Russia temporarily seized. Zelenskyi also noted that the war should end where it began in 2014 – in Crimea.
Earlier, the head of state also stated that the military part of the war in Ukraine can be completed by the end of the yearbut the final part will be the negotiations.
The head of the president’s office, Andriy Yermak, believes that it is vital to complete the active phase of the war in Ukraine before winter. In particular, this is caused by the fact that the Russian Federation can attack the thermal energy infrastructure of Ukraine.
“The Russian army continues to attack the objects of our infrastructure. This is one of their goals, they don’t even hide it. Therefore, this is one of the reasons why we want to take maximum measures to end the active part of the war by the end of autumn,” Yermak said.
“The hot phase does not mean that we are leaving the trenches. The hot phase is, relatively speaking, you and I suffered the biggest losses in May. Now it is many times less… When I talk about the hot phase, it does not mean that the field, let’s say, trench history will end,” – said the head of the Ministry of Defense Oleksiy Reznikovcommenting on the likelihood of the hot phase of the war ending before winter.
In an interview with RBC-Ukraine, Major General Dmytro Marchenko suggested that by the end of the year, we can expect the end of the active phase of the war in Ukrainebut the victory can be already in the spring.
“I would not like to make predictions. But if we have the amount of weapons that we were promised, that we need, then, I think, in the spring of next year, we will celebrate the victory,” he said.
