Italy assured Ukraine of its support despite the election results

About this reported the press service of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine with reference to the statement of the Minister of Defense of the Italian Republic Lorenzo Guerini.

“We will have elections this week. But what I can tell you very responsibly is that, whatever the outcome of these elections, Italy is and will always be next to Ukraine,” he emphasized.

According to the minister, the struggle of the Ukrainian people against Russian aggression is an example for all other countries. Guerini added that Italy has been doing everything possible in recent months so that Ukraine can continue to fight for its freedom.

During the meeting with the Minister of Defense of Ukraine Oleksiy Reznikov, the parties also discussed the aid packages that Italy provides to Ukraine. Despite the fact that the details of the package will not be disclosed, Reznikov assured that these will be “very effective and necessary things for the Armed Forces.”

“One of the most important points that tipped the balance when deciding on the status of Ukraine’s candidate for EU membership was the position of the Italian government and Prime Minister Mario Draghi personally, and we are very grateful for that,” Reznikov adds.

  • On August 25, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Italy Luigi Di Maio arrived in Kyiv with an unexpected visit.
