The court rejected the appeal of the lawyers of judge Oleksiy Tandyr, who in May beat to death a soldier of the National Guard at a checkpoint in Kyiv. He will remain in custody.

This is reported by Suspilne.

Oleksiy Tandyr will remain in custody until August 26, 2023 without the right to post bail.

It will be recalled that on May 26, judge Oleksiy Tandyr beat National Guard officer Vadym Bondarenko to death at a checkpoint in Kyiv. The 23-year-old soldier died on the spot from his injuries. On the same day, the law enforcement officers informed the judge about the suspicion.

At the end of May, Tandyr was arrested without bail, and the Supreme Council of Justice temporarily removed him from the administration of justice. The SBI officially confirmed that the judge was drunk when he hit the national guard.

In mid-July, the Pechersk District Court extended the preventive measure against Oleksiy Tandyr.
