Six Belgian shepherd dogs trained to search for explosives were handed over to the State Emergency Service of Ukraine within the framework of cooperation with the Norwegian organization NPA.
The skills of these service dogs allow them to detect enemy explosive devices even underground.

Since 2006, a single canine center has been operating at the State Emergency Service of Ukraine on the basis of the Interregional Rapid Response Center of the State Emergency Service of Ukraine in the city of Romny, Sumy Oblast. In 2014, the training of mine detection dogs began, which is the newest stage in the Ukrainian system.
The invitation of specialists from the NPA helped to study best practices in this direction.
After a visit to a canine center in Bosnia, specialists of the State Emergency Service and the NPA signed a memorandum of cooperation in 2022. Now Ukrainian dog handlers have received training according to European standards.
For the first time, service dogs Alf and Quad were used for humanitarian demining in the de-occupied territories of the Kharkiv region. Their capabilities proved to be an integral part of the international security effort.
