The sports event, at which our athletes won 2 gold and 2 bronze medals, took place in Great Britain from September 4 to 9.
Maryna Lytovchenko became a two-time European champion. In the women’s singles category in class 6, she successfully reached the final, where she defeated her opponent from Poland, reports HOVA.
She also has a gold medal in the mixed doubles category. Together with Viktor Didukh from Lviv, Marina defeated tennis players from the Netherlands in the final.
In the women’s doubles category, the woman from Kharkiv together with Mykolaiv athlete Iryna Shynkareva became the bronze medalist, losing in the semi-finals to rivals from Turkey.
Oleksandr Yezyk brought another bronze medal to Ukraine and Kharkiv Oblast. In the men’s singles category in class 2, he lost to a tennis player from Poland in the semifinals, and took third place.
In total, the Paralympic table tennis team of Ukraine won 3 gold, 3 silver and 5 bronze medals at this championship.
As noted by the National Committee of Disabled Sports of Ukraine, European champions automatically received licenses for the 2024 Paralympics.
