Today, November 26, Kharkiv commemorated the victims of the Holodomor: memorial candles were lit on Svobody Square next to the “All for Victory” tent.
The commemoration event began at 4:00 p.m.: up to 50 people gathered, it is reported Public Kharkiv.
The participants of the action lit candles, sang the national anthem of Ukraine and honored the victims of the Holodomor with a moment of silence. A cross was laid out from lamps on Svobody Square. People also brought ears of corn and national flags.
“We traditionally gathered on this day. And today it is especially important, because the war is going on. We understand that, just like 100 years ago, Russian imperial policy boils down to exterminating Ukrainians. A different method is proposed: they try to intimidate us with both missiles and hunger. But we constantly show that the candle of memory does not go out,” said the co-organizer of the action, Volodymyr Chistylin.
Also in the afternoon, near the Holodomor Victims Memorial Complex, the regional and city leadership lit a fire during a nationwide moment of silence.
