Kharkiv residents reduced their energy consumption, but did not become the most economical News of Kharkiv and Ukraine

Ukrenergo released an infographic showing which regions, according to dispatchers, have reduced electricity consumption, and which have not.

As reported, there are hours of maximum consumption in the energy system – these are from 7 to 11 in the morning and from 17 to 23 in the evening.

We can see that people heard us, but partially – yesterday, October 20, most saved up until 10 in the morning, and then consumption started to grow sharply. That is, the peak shifted, but did not disappear, and dispatchers were forced to apply forced shutdowns in the central and northern regions. Therefore, we ask everyone once again to pay attention to our requests.

Do not turn on many appliances at the same time. If everyone listened to the advice “One lamp plus one device at the same time” – outages could be shorter. Or in some places they might not be. If the oven is working, do not turn on the kettle, hair dryer or iron at this time. If we are ironing or vacuuming, do not turn on the electric stove or oven. Attention – the restriction does not apply to phone chargers. They do not consume a lot, but it is really important to be in touch now, – said the energy experts

On October 20, in order to reduce the load on networks and balance the energy system, the Dispatch Center “Ukrenergo” forcibly applied restrictions on the consumption of industrial enterprises throughout the country, and in some regions, household consumers. Businesses were restricted from the very morning, and a little later – already the homes of Ukrainians. All restrictions were lifted only late in the evening.

The biggest consumption peak on October 20 was not in the evening, as usual, but at 10 o’clock in the morning. At the same time, at this moment yesterday, the residents of Kyiv consumed the same amount as in the evening of the previous day, the residents of Kyiv and Chernihiv regions even more – by 17% and 9%, respectively. Peak consumption also increased significantly in the Kherson and Mykolaiv regions.

The rest of the regions consumed less in the morning of October 20 than in the evening of the previous day, but still restrictions had to be introduced in Cherkasy, Zhytomyr, Kharkiv, Sumy, Poltava, Zaporizhia and Dnipropetrovsk regions.

At the same time, in the evening, Ukrainians reduced consumption by an average of 5.4% compared to the previous day. The largest number is in Chernihiv, Khmelnytskyi, Poltava and Sumy regions.

It’s getting colder outside. We understand the desire to stay warm. But understand us too – the restoration of the network damaged by shelling and the balancing of the energy system will be faster if the network is not overloaded, the energy experts reminded.
