The Court of Appeal upheld the decision on almost UAH 3.9 billion in bail for businessman Ihor Kolomoiskyi.
As reported UNIANthe relevant decision was adopted by the panel of the Kyiv Court of Appeal today, October 6.
The defense asked to cancel the decision of the court of first instance to change the preventive measure from detention with an alternative bail of UAH 509 million to detention with almost UAH 3.9 billion bail.
In their appeal, the businessman’s lawyers once again emphasized that the suspicion and the preventive measure chosen for him are, in their opinion, unfounded and unmotivated.
In addition, the defense emphasized that such a precautionary measure is incompatible with Kolomoiskyi’s state of health, because he must constantly take a certain type of medication and be under the supervision of a doctor.
The appeal also states that the businessman does not have the funds to pay the court-determined bail, which would allow him to be released from custody.
After consulting and examining the materials of the case, the panel of judges decided to deny the defenders the satisfaction of the appeal and to leave the decision of the court of first instance to change the preventive measure unchanged.
