On Thursday, September 14, the Bureau of Economic Security of Ukraine informed Ukrainian businessman Ihor Kolomoisky about the third suspicion. It is related to the seizure of PrivatBank’s funds.

About this reported Serhiy Leshchenko, adviser to the head of the Office of the President, in Telegram.

It is noted that Kolomoiskyi was informed about the new suspicion in the detention center. The businessman was accompanied by his lawyer. Currently, a pre-trial investigation is still ongoing regarding Kolomoiskyi.

This time, Kolomoiskyi is suspected of:

  • in the organization of forgery of documents for the transfer of funds;
  • in the organization of taking over someone else’s property by an organized group, in particularly large amounts;
  • in the acquisition and disposal of property, in relation to which the factual circumstances testify to its acquisition by criminal means.

The pre-trial investigation established that Kolomoisky organized and led an organized group. It also included the head of the capital branch of Privatbank Serhiy Volkov and other officials of the capital branch and head office of Privatbank. Together, they developed a plan of criminal activity aimed at seizing the bank’s funds.

It consisted in artificially creating the appearance of depositing cash funds on behalf of Kolomoiskyi to the cash register of the head office of Privatbank, their accounting, registration of the transportation of non-existent cash funds by Privatbank cashiers, etc.

The “artificial” deposit of cash on behalf of Kolomoisky took place in the period from March 26, 2013 to February 18, 2014 for a total amount of UAH 5.878 billion.

Later, this non-cash was legalized by transferring them to the following address:

  • FC Dnipro LLC;
  • on Kolomoiskyi’s own account;
  • to the address of the organization “United Jewish Community of Ukraine”;
  • LLC “Proton-21”;
  • “YUBI” LLC;
  • LLC “FC Gambit”;
  • PJSC “NPK-Galichyna”;
  • by topping up one’s own card account in Privatbank;
  • as well as a bank account in JSC “Ibox Bank” with subsequent transfer of funds to the accounts of a number of non-resident companies.

These are the companies:

  • Marks and Sokolov LLC (USA);
  • Huges Hubbard and Reed LLP (БША);
  • Fieldfisher LLP (Great Britain);
  • Nomea Law Firm (Switzerland).

It will be recalled that on September 7 it became known that Ihor Kolomoisky is suspected of embezzling 9.2 billion hryvnias from PrivatBank. He and five other persons were declared suspicious.

And on September 2, the SBU reported that Kolomoisky was suspected of laundering a large sum of money by taking it abroad. The suspect was declared under two articles of the Criminal Code – fraud and legalization of property obtained through crime.

The Shevchenkivskiy District Court of Kyiv arrested Kolomoiskyi with the possibility of bail in the amount of over 509 million hryvnias.
