Date:

On September 8, 2022, during the offensive of Ukrainian forces, the city of Balaklia was deoccupied. The Kharkiv counteroffensive operation went down in history as the most successful of those conducted during the Russian-Ukrainian war.

Some shots from the de-occupation of Balaklia in the special unit KRAKEN showed today and told the chronology of events.

On September 6, at 5:00 a.m., the Defense Forces of Ukraine launched offensive actions along almost the entire front line in the Kharkiv Region.

Already in the evening of the same day, the “Kraken” special unit liberated the suburb of Balaklia – the village of Verbivka.

On September 8, the unit’s assault groups entered the city of Balaklia.

At 16:00, the Ukrainian flag flew over the Balaklia City Council again.

On September 9, Borodoyarske, Morozivka, Savyntsi and Dovholivka were liberated by the forces of our unit.

“The very liberation of Balaklia marked the first major victory for the country and became an indicator that the Ukrainian army is capable of conducting large, and most importantly, successful offensive operations,” the special unit noted.

Starting today, September 8 is officially celebrated as Balaklia City Day.
