The European Union should provide more funds for the support of Ukraine in the revised long-term budget.

This was stated by the Minister of Finance of Lithuania, Gintare Skaiste, recalling that as part of the review of the EU budget for 2021-2027, the European Commission in June proposed to allocate 50 billion euros in the form of grants and loans to Ukraine to support the financing of Kyiv in its fight against Russian aggression. informs Reuters.

She also noted that when revising the EU budget, it is necessary to add funds for roads, ports, bridges and airports that allow the Armed Forces to move quickly, while reminding that the 1.7 billion euros allocated for these purposes is not enough.

This year, the EU will pay Ukraine 18 billion euros in the form of soft loans, but if the proposed sum of 50 billion euros remains, then from 2024 to 2027 Ukraine will receive only 12.5 billion annually.

“If you divide the amount of euros that is in the proposal over four years, the amount will be less than this year. So our proposal is that maybe we can have the same level as in 2023. If we will have the same level as in 2023, then it will be 72 billion,” the minister said.
