Morawiecki on Patriot for Ukraine Nobody wants to get equipment

Patriot anti-aircraft missile systems, if they work in Ukraine, will also protect the skies of Poland. No one wants to receive equipment that does not work. This was announced by the Prime Minister of Poland Mateusz Moraveckitransmits PAP.

According to him, Poland will consider the option if Germany wants to give the Patriot to Warsaw, and not to Ukraine. “But no one wants to receive equipment that doesn’t work,” Morawiecki said.

He noted that people are dying in Ukraine, including in the west of the country.

“Therefore, let the weapon serve as best as possible to protect the Ukrainian sky. Thus, it will also serve to protect the Polish sky,” the Polish prime minister said.

Morawiecki hopes that it will be possible to organize the process so that the western part of Ukraine is at least protected by modern air defense and missile defense systems.

He sees nothing unusual in this.

“Already today, anti-aircraft and anti-missile weapons have been sent to Ukraine from both NATO countries and Poland, so this is only goodwill on the part of those who volunteered to transfer this equipment,” Morawiecki summed up.

  • In November, Germany offered Poland the Patriot air defense system, and Warsaw said – “better give them to Ukraine.” Berlin replied that this required a decision by the Allies and that they were taken by surprise.
  • The NATO Secretary General said that this decision does not need allies: it is up to Berlin to decide. Later, Germany hinted that they wanted to keep the Patriot in the NATO air defense system.
