“We have no information indicating a deliberate attack by Russia, and we await the results of the ongoing investigation,” NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg told EU lawmakers.

He warned of the danger posed by Russian airstrikes conducted so close to alliance territory.

“This demonstrates the risks of incidents and accidents. Regardless of the outcome of this (investigation, ed.), of course, we have seen a lot of combat operations, as well as air attacks near NATO’s borders,” the Secretary General added.

Before NewsMaker reported on the statement of the official representative of NATO, Dylan White.

“Romania has confirmed that debris, possibly of a drone, was found on Romanian territory near the border with Ukraine. The country’s authorities are investigating the incident and reported on it at a meeting of the NATO Council,” White emphasized, adding that allied countries expressed solidarity with Romania.

The representative of the Alliance also emphasized that NATO has significantly strengthened its presence in the Black Sea region after Russia’s aggression against Ukraine.

“We continue to closely monitor the situation and are in close contact with our ally Romania,” said a NATO official.
