The Kyiv Court of Appeal remanded MP Nestor Shufrych, who is suspected of treason, in custody.
This is reported by the publication “Play” from the courtroom.
The judges upheld the decision of the Pechersk District Court of Kyiv, which sent the politician to the pre-trial detention center until November 15.
The prosecutor’s office accuses Shufrych of carrying out the instructions of the former deputy secretary of the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine, Volodymyr Sivkovich, who is in Russia and, according to the investigation, is an FSB agent.
Prosecutors believe that, on his behalf, Shufrych in 2021 “distributed information aimed at expressing condemnation, diminishing the authority and discrediting the institutions of the Ukrainian government.”
The politician himself denies guilt and calls his case commissioned.
