The Russian military tried to strike the Khmelnytskyi region with Shahed-136/131 drones on Friday night. Most likely, the enemy wanted to destroy Ukrainian bombers carrying long-range Storm Shadow missiles.

This was stated by the spokesman of the Air Force of the Ukrainian Armed Forces, Yuriy Ignat, on the air of the telethon on September 15.

He suggested that perhaps the enemy wanted to hit the airfield or the base of the planes.

“Khmelnytsia region has been attacked again. It is clear what the enemy is looking for. They are looking for where the commander hid our bombers after the recent events in our sea near Crimea”– said Ignat.

The Air Force spokesman noted that the Russians slightly changed the timing of the attack that night. But, according to Ignat, it even helped the Armed Forces somewhat.

“They usually start launches from 22:30-22:50. Then several waves – until 04:00. A morning attack allows better training of mobile fire groups. When it’s daylight, the target is visually visible”the speaker explained.

We will remind you that on the night of September 15, the Russians launched 17 drones in the direction of Khmelnytskyi region. Air defense forces shot down all the drones.

On September 13, the Ukrainian military attacked a ship repair plant in Sevastopol. The diesel-electric submarine “Rostov-on-Don” and the amphibious assault ship “Minsk” were damaged. The media reported that the attack on Sevastopol was carried out by Storm Shadow missiles.
