Україна й досі не отримала імена постраждалих внаслідок обстрілу російськими окупантами колонії у тимчасово окупованій Оленівці на Донеччині в неділю, 18 вересня.

Olenivka shelling: Ukraine has still not received information about the victims

Ukraine has still not received the names of the victims as a result of shelling by the Russian occupiers of the colony in the temporarily occupied Olenivka in Donetsk region on Sunday, September 18.

Human Rights Commissioner Dmytro Lubynets reports on Facebook.

“At the moment, we have not received information about the names of the victims, but we are asking about it both directly – to Ms. Moskalkova (Russian ombudsman – ed.) and through the mediation of the UN and ICRC“, he wrote.

The council called on the world to react to the killing of prisoners of war in OlenivkaThe Council appealed to the UN, EU, OSCE and other organizations and countries regarding the mass execution of Ukrainian prisoners of war in Olenivka.

Lubynets noted that he is ready to personally come to Olenivka in order to assess all the facts and talk to witnesses of the shelling, injured and detained citizens.

He added that he did not know the motives behind the shelling of the Russians.

«Perhaps this is banal revenge due to defeats at the front, or perhaps purposeful terror and demonstrable impunity of the military leadership of Russia“, he wrote.

According to him, the shelling has the following consequences:

  • postponing the visit of the UN fact-finding mission to Olenivka due to security risks, and possibly 1 complete ban on such a visit from the Russian side;
  • causing suffering to the relatives of Ukrainian prisoners who are held in the colony and cannot obtain verified data on the dead and wounded, which entails social dissatisfaction;
  • pressure on Ukraine to obtain concessions on the release of Russian soldiers who committed war crimes on our territory and to resolve the issue of ammonia transit through Ukraine.

«Such actions of Russia only make one simple fact more transparent for the whole world – “Russia is a terrorist state.” And this state seeks to achieve its geopolitical goals not in a democratic way through negotiations, but by using weapons and terror. And the task of the democratic world is simply to stop. Once for allLubynets added.

We will remind you that on September 18, the Russian military again shelled the Olenivska colony, where Ukrainian prisoners of war are held, accusing the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

Earlier, on the night of July 29, at least 50 Ukrainian prisoners of war died in the colony in Olenivka, Donetsk region. Russia said that Ukraine allegedly struck the colony with a HIMARS surface-to-air missile.
