The Kharkiv Regional Prosecutor’s Office approved and sent to court an indictment against a 45-year-old man for voluntarily taking a position in an illegal law enforcement agency created in the temporarily occupied territory (Part 7 of Article 111-1 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).
According to the investigation, during the occupation of Izyum by the Russian Armed Forces, a local resident voluntarily agreed to cooperate with the invaders. He took the position of “driver of the duty unit” in a pseudo-law enforcement agency – the so-called “People’s Militia”.
He drove “policemen” to the necessary addresses, and also repaired official cars.
In October 2022, the accused was exposed.
The case will be heard in the Kyiv District Court of Kharkiv.
The pre-trial investigation was conducted by the investigators of the investigative department of the State Police in the Kharkiv region, operative support was carried out by the employees of the Kharkiv department of the Department of Internal Security of the National Police of Ukraine.
The sanction of the article provides for punishment in the form of imprisonment for a term of twelve to fifteen years with deprivation of the right to hold certain positions or engage in certain activities for a term of ten to fifteen years and with or without confiscation of property
