Protests are taking place in Yerevan against the visit of Putin and the CSTO: what is known

The participants of the action, which began near the monument to the hero of the Armenian national liberation movement, Garegin Nzhde, chanted anti-Russian slogans.

In Yerevan, on the eve of the CSTO summit, which is scheduled for Wednesday, November 23, the opposition party “National Democratic Pole” held a protest against the organization and against the visit of the president of the aggressor country to Armenia.

This is reported by the Armenian service “Radio Liberty” and Telegram channels.

As noted, the participants of the action, which began near the monument to the hero of the Armenian national liberation movement, Garegin Nzhde, chanted anti-Russian slogans: “Enemy of Russia!”, “Enemy of the CSTO!”, meaning that after the bloody clashes on the border in September this military bloc did not provide any support to its member – Armenia.

At the same time, the members of the opposition party said that the visit of the leaders of unfriendly and even “hostile to Armenia” member states of the CSTO, in particular the President of the Russian Federation Putin, should receive a worthy opposition. On the posters, you could also see the declaration of the President of Belarus, Alexander Lukashenko, as undesirable.

Ukrainian flags were also visible among the protesters and shouts of “Glory to Ukraine – Glory to the Heroes!” were heard.

On Wednesday, November 23, oppositionists, as well as representatives of civil society, intend to hold protests again.

It is worth noting that this is Putin’s first visit to Armenia after the war in the fall of 2020.

We will remind that on September 18, in the capital of Armenia, Yerevan, a rally was held for the withdrawal of the country from the organization of the Treaty on Collective Security.

Earlier we reported that hundreds of people have gathered near the parliament in Armenia, demanding the resignation of the prime minister.
