Russian President Vladimir Putin flew to Belarus for the first time in 3 years for talks with Alexander Lukashenko “on military issues”.

Putin and Lukashenko made a number of statements at the open part of the negotiations.

Putin’s statements:

  • Belarus is not only a good neighbor, but also an ally, so all economic issues are resolved based on this.
  • The Russian Federation is ready to further develop nuclear projects in Belarus, science, and train personnel.

Putin also called on Lukashenka to increase trade and develop cooperation in space.

In turn, Lukashenko said that Belarus and the Russian Federation, despite “some roughness”, are finding answers to all threats. Lukashenko called the resolution of “sensitive economic issues that will help ensure the welfare of the population” a priority for the Russian Federation and Belarus.

Earlier today, a plane with Russian dictator Vladimir Putin on board entered the airspace of Belarus. Russian Defense Minister Serhii Shoigu also flew to Belarus.

According to Mykhailo Podolyak, adviser to the head of the office of President Volodymyr Zelenskyi, the President of the Russian Federation will push Lukashenka to attack Ukraine.

The Institute for the Study of War believes that Putin, during his visit to Minsk, intends to put pressure on his colleague from Belarus, Alexander Lukashenko, in order to achieve concessions on the integration of the two countries.
