Also on the website Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine a joint statement of the foreign ministers of Estonia, Finland, Iceland, Latvia, Lithuania, Norway, Sweden and Ukraine was published.

They called on the Russian Federation to fulfill its obligations under international humanitarian law, as well as to release Ukrainian civilians illegally deported and detained under political pretexts, as well as those who were taken hostage during the full-scale invasion of Ukraine.

“We emphasize the need to ensure humanitarian access to protect the lives, rights and dignity of victims of armed conflicts in accordance with international humanitarian law. In this regard, the access of humanitarian organizations to those in need should be ensured,” the statement reads.

In addition, it is also noted that the countries undertake to provide further humanitarian aid and support Ukraine’s efforts to prepare for winter, in particular, to restore Ukraine’s energy infrastructure.

“At the same time, we will continue our efforts to support the reconstruction of the destroyed Ukrainian infrastructure. We call on the international community to support the reconstruction of Ukraine, including finding ways to do it at the expense of Russia. We remind you of the UN General Assembly Resolution of November 14, 2022 ES-11/6 “Promoting reparations and reparations for aggression against Ukraine”, which determined the need for the creation of an international mechanism for compensation for damages arising as a result of internationally illegal actions of the Russian Federation in or against Ukraine”, – it is noted.
